Getting Started With Instagram Reels – TikTok Alternative

The Indian government banned several Chinese apps last month, citing security concerns, including the famous TikTok app for video sharing. In India alone, it had over 2 crore userbase and left a great vacuum on the market with the ban.

Before that, many users began to move to local apps, such as Chingari, Roposo and Mitron, before TikTok was removed from the Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Now, Facebook is all set to bring Instagram’s Reels to feature with similar entertainment value in an offer to cash in on TikTok prohibition. Initially launched in 2019 in Brazil, Instagram Reels is now being tested in India.

Many people on their Instagram app have already found the Reels option. Video clips can be recorded and shared in Instagram Stories by users for 15 seconds.

Instagram introduced its own brief video function in India, Reels. Vishal Shah, the vice president of the product on Facebook, said the new functionality allows users to make videos for the app, incorporate innovative filters, and upload music beyond their usual supporters. Wheels are like TikTok and allow users with common chips, trends and challenges to build video of 15 seconds.

Shah tells us that the company is aware that 45% of Instagram videos are 15 seconds or less. “We noticed also that history is not the only place where such videos will be exchanged because they wanted them to live on and be spread beyond their followers,” he said in the video call.

This is the step-by-step guide to use Instagram Reels:

  • Select Reels at the bottom of the Instagram camera.
  • Click on Audio option and search for a song from the Instagram music library for your Reel.
  • You can also use your own original audio by simply recording a Reel with it just as TikTok.
  • You can add AR Effect to make your Reel interesting and different from others and also set the timer to record any of your clips hands-free.
  • There’s also an option to speed up or slow down part of the video or audio.
