Facebook Darkmode: How to enable it?

Facebook Darkmode: How to enable it? a week ago, the sweeping redesigning of Facebook’s desktop offers dark mode, home-screen tab beds and a smarter profile. Users can opt in to enable redesign before later in this year it becomes the default for all.

To activate the Facebook.com redesign, go to the Settings Menu -> “See New Facebook.” To disable it, users can return and hit “Switch to Classic Facebook.”

Facebook initially began a public rollout test in October, with positive feedback appearing to have led to the rollout today. It is only weeks after the launch of Facebook by Messenger that its Discovery tab has been removed, demoting the visibility of enterprises and chatbots. After a decade of visual complexity, the company has spent the last two years promising to simplify its applications.

The redesign desktop provides streamlined group navigation, marketplace, watch and more on the home screen. Also loading the home page and transitions faster. Larger fonts and more sensitive layouts facilitate the eyes.

The creation of events, pages, groups and ads is also faster for Facebook. You can actually see how these things look on mobile before sharing them.

Most notably, the new design of Facebook brings dark mode to and from the Settings menu by switching on and off. It is intended to minimize the glare of the screen while maintaining contrast, so that you don’t blast your eyes in a dim room with white background.

Facebook is in the difficult situation that 16 years after its launch, it is still popular. That means that a ton of cruft has been created on the Desktop site as the company ships are attractive to its users only. Most of the extra stuff is shoved in a navigation drawer on the mobile phone; everything is laid out on the desktop and can overwhelm our senses. While most of Facebooking is now on the mobile, it is critical for its longevity and publicity views to keep hardcore desktop users happy who create lots of content for the social network.

What if you don’t see the options yet?

For Facebook Darkmode on Desktop?

First, make sure you have your Chrome on its updated version. Upon checking, go now to chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark in the address bar. Change the first drop-down box you see from the original ‘Default’ mode to ‘Enabled’. After this, Chrome will now force you to ‘reload’ your browser.

Once you reload, all the websites you will be next visiting will be on Dark mode– including Facebook, of course.

For Mobile users?

Obtaining a single button or icon for changing accounts into Dark mode-unlike its app Messenger does not appear to be updated still. This is what you can do on Android.

Just like for desktop users, type chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark into the address bar of your Chrome and change the flags ‘Android web contents dark mode’ and ‘Android Chrome UI dark mode’ to ‘Enabled.’ Once that’s done, log in to Facebook via Chrome and enjoy the new look.

For iOS users, unfortunately, the dark mode feature is still not available as of today.
