    What is Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY)?

    The MJPJAY was initiated by the Maharashtra State Government with the aim of providing free and affordable medical treatment to low-income families. The scheme delivers free medical services and in particular specialist hospitalization, through a network of identified healthcare providers, for consultations, procedures, and recovery. Initially, the nickname Rajiv Gandhi Jeevandayee Arogya Yojana (RGJAY) unveiled the new initiative.

    For all treatment costs in the process of the recipient’s hospitalization, the MJPJAY offers compensation with a covered amount of Rs.1,50,000 per family per year. An annual Rs.1.50,000 coverage may be used by cashless hospitalization by a person or the whole family.

    What is Covered Under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana?

    Including about 971 treatments/operations/praxes and 121 follow-up packages in 30 specialty categories, this coverage is provided by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana. In other words:

    • Orthopedic surgery and procedures, general surgery, ENT surgery, gynecology and obstetrics surgery, cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery, ophthalmology surgery, pediatric surgery, radiation surgery, plastic surgery, etc.
    • The government has reserved 132 procedures that are to be performed by impaneled government hospitals or government medical colleges.
    • The upper limit for renal transplant operation is Rs.2,50,000.
    • Consultation and medicines post-hospitalization is covered for up to 10 days from the date of discharge.

    Scheme Details :

    OBJECTIVE: To improve access of Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL) families (excluding White Card Holders as defined by Civil Supplies Department)to quality medical care for identified specialty services requiring hospitalization for surgeries and therapies or consultations through an identified Network of health care providers

    SCHEME: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) would be implemented throughout the state of Maharashtra in a phased manner for a period of 3 years.The insurance policy/coverage under the MJPJAY for the eligible beneficiary families in 8 districts: Gadchiroli, Amravati, Nanded, Sholapur, Dhule, Raigad, Mumbai, and Suburbs

    BENEFITS: scheme would provide 972 surgeries/therapies/procedures along with121 follow up packages in the following 30 identified specialized categories:

    How is Mahatma Jyotiba Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY) Scheme Enrolled?

    Below is the MJPJAY registration procedure for the Maharashtra state:

    Step 1: Individuals or families can come to the nearest hospital Network/District/Women and visit Arogyamitra to start the scheme application.

    Stage 2: A referral card will be given to you anytime you visit a government health facility, and will be submitted to the Network Hospital along with the physicians at the government health facilities for a preliminary diagnosis.

    Step 3: You can even take a referral card at the Network Hospital wellness camps.

    Step 4: The referral card along with your Yellow or Orange Card is then required. Instead of a ration card, you can build your Antiodega or Annapurna card.

    Step 5: Diagnosis and tests will be initiated until you have produced the above material.

    Step 6: You are admitted to the Network Hospital depending on your condition.

    Step 7: An E-authorisation request will be sent to the insurance company and the same will be reviewed by the MJPJAY as well.

    Step 8: Medical Specialists of the insurance company and MJPJAY will review the request for authorization and approve the request if all conditions are met. This authorization will be done in 24 hours and immediately in case of an emergency with the authorization is marked as “EM”.

    Step 9: With the authorization approved, cashless treatment or hospitalization will be extended to you. 

    Step 10: The hospital will send all the original bills, diagnostic reports, discharge summary, and other relevant documentation to the insurance company for the settlement of the claim.

    Step 11: The insurance company will review the documents and approve the claim and clear the payment to the hospital.

    Step 12: The network hospital will provide free consultations, medicines, and diagnostics under the scheme for up to 10 days from the date of discharge.

    Documents Required to Apply for Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY):

    For identification purpose, apart from the ration card (Orange/Yellow/White), you need to submit any of the following KYC documents:

    • Pan Card
    • Driving License
    • Aadhar Card
    • Voter ID
    • Handicap Certificate
    • Nationalized Bank Passbook with Photograph
    • School/College ID
    • For urban areas, Government Local bodies/Tahsildar’s stamps and signatures on the applicant’s photograph.
    • For rural areas, Tahsildar’s stamp and signature on the applicant’s photograph.
    • Passport
    • Freedom Fighter ID Card
    • Senior citizen card issued by central and state government Of India
    • Defense ex-service card issued by Sainik board
    • Any photo ID proof issued by Govt. of Maharashtra/ Govt. of India.
    • Marine Fishers Identity card.

    How to Apply for Mahatma Jyotiba Jan Arogya Yojana Card Online?

    You must approach the nearest Women/District/Network Hospital to apply for or collect the Mahatma Jyotiba Jan Arogya Yojana card. You will get a health card from Arogyamitra, who represents the system.

    Please note, a referral to the Network hospital for initiation of preliminary diagnosis by the doctors will be given for you to visit the Government Health Facility. You can also attend Network Hospitals Wellness Camps and earn a health card.
