Cases of Covid Explode in India: Experts say that the second wave could get Worse

Since Covid’s cases explode in India, top expert Rajdeep Sardesai’s shares his view of the deterioration of the second wave and of the possible solutions.

It is very difficult to see these stories from all over India. I feel that a year of work has been done for many of us to utter waste.

I believe the next four weeks will be difficult for India. April is the cruellest month. Every day the majority of models estimate 5 lakh cases, 25,000 hospitalizations and three to four thousand deaths.

It is profoundly concerned and I really hope that more is done to get policy, public health officials and public cooperation to undermine these predictions.

The virus is not listening to national border patrols. Thus, it is not right to say that any mutant is limited to Maharashtra. The more it spreads, the more changes it changes.

But what we saw in other nations, such as South Africa, the UK and the US, is that the second wave rose sharply, but also dropped sharply. And the models show that Maharashtra falls at the end of April and the beginning of May. So, I hope that anything like that happens miraculously.

It takes two weeks to protect yourself from some type of infection after two doses of a vaccine. As this distribution is now extensive, many people who took the first dose are hopeful.

This is a fallacy that if you shoot today, you would be safe tomorrow. Recall that vaccines ensure immunity from serious diseases and deaths and definitely not infections. The level of infection defence varies from vaccine to vaccine. No vaccine provides 100% infection defence.

Mutant or no vaccine, vaccine or mutant. The only methods of defence are to cover, to maintain social distance, to sanitize hands and, above all, to avoid crowding and to go to closed spaces.

Lockdown is a big move. I don’t think that a lockdown is a solution, but it would have to be imposed by governments. I don’t know. I want to go to work, come back and lock-in. Locating in is a voluntary task that can be carried out by individuals.

The curve can only descend as it peaks. The most successful vaccine is behaviour modification. The vaccines we give will protect us from the third wave. The third wave has been experienced by many nations.
