This is a 12-month non-tenure-accruing position with 55% teaching and 45% advising (College of Agricultural and Life Sciences) available in the Microbiology and Cell Science Department, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Florida. This assignment may change by the needs of the unit. Primary duties will include:
- Participate in student advising and contribute to their college success
- Teach our professional development course for undergraduate and graduate students
- Contribute to the training of GTAs and UTAs
- Aid in data collection for annual academic assessment report
- Contribute to improvement of current curriculum and potentially design new lab modules
- Participate in related teaching/education activities and STEM education research as needed in support of the department’s efforts
- Other teaching assignments as required by the department
In addition, the successful candidate will engage in scholarly activities related to instruction, including teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, participating in curriculum revision and enhancement, seeking funding for the teaching program, supervising undergraduate and graduate research and creative work, publishing teaching-related scholarship, producing learning tools, and engaging in professional development activities related to teaching and advising. Faculty are encouraged to support and participate in the CALS Honors Program, distance education, and international education.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Required:
A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Microbiology, Cell Biology, or a closely related life science discipline is required d. The ideal candidate must have experience teaching undergraduate level Microbiology classes or a closely related subject. Candidates should have demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal relations ips. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land Grant s stem. Candidates must also commit to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability.

Postdoctoral experience is des able. The ideal candidate will have experience with evidence-based teaching approaches, discipline-based education research, and/or other activities in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
