You can now add a “captions sticker” to Instagram Stories, which transcribes your audio automatically into substitutes without the use of third-party applications. This is a useful tool for designers as well as fans, as live videos are better available to audible people and to people who prefer to watch the sound off.

In contrast to the automatic captions shown on live IGTV streams, the new title stickers look more like deliberate video items than basic text at the bottom of your screen – although you can also look for a simple subtitle if you prefer it.

Like other Instagram stickers, if the app misleads a title, you can change the location, colour, size and font of the caption and edit the text. You may also use the pen to draw under or over the captions on the screen.

At the launch, stickers are only available in English and are thus only available to iOS and Android users in primarily English-speaking countries. Instagram says the sticker will soon also be used in Instagram roller videos and could be incorporated into other Instagram video content styles in the future.

    2. While editing the video, select the Sticker icon from the editing options at the top.
    3. Select “Captions” from the list.
    4. Place the sticker where you want it to appear. You’ll see a preview of the text as the video plays.
    5. Tap a word to edit it if necessary, and use the sticker editing options to change the caption’s design and layout.
    6. When you’re finished editing, post the video. The subtitles appear automatically as your video plays.
