SpiceHealth launches the cheapest RT-PCR test for Rs 499, When is it coming to your city?

SpiceHealth today reported that it would perform the test, regarded as the most decisive and important test for Covid 19 testing, beginning with the Rs 499 per test, in a bid to make Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests accessible.

A new RT-PCR is the most widely used and reliable COVID test in Delhi, costing Rs 2,400.

SpiceHealth, a division of SpiceJet, said it would be available within 6 hours of receiving the sample.

In the presence of the Ministry of health and family welfare, Harsh Vardhan, and Prof. Balram Bhargava, Secretary DHR & DG, ICMR, opened the first mobile research laboratory of SpiceHealth at ICMR, AIIMS.

“India found RT-PCR virus testing difficult to scale. We hope that testing will improve dramatically around the world, providing this test at a fraction of the present price, promising a much faster turnaround period of just 6 hours, and deployment of mobile labs that are easily transportable to the most remote areas,” said SpiceHealth CEO Avani Singh.

The Company said that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) certifies testing kits and laboratory equipment and that the mobile labs are properly accredited by the National Tester and Calibration Laboratory Accreditation Commission (NABL).

SpiceHealth has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the ICMR to develop research facilities and collection centers across the world.

The first research facility in Delhi was initially set up. Every test lab will be able to produce 3,000 test reports every day.

With success over Delhi, the company will definitely spread it’s access over other major cities such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata etc.
