No Approval to PUBG Mobile Relaunch in India: GOI

An RTI for insight into the status of the reactivation of the iconic Indian game has come up with an insightful response in another revelation of the PUBG Mobile India saga.

RTI’s response has revealed that MEITY, the government’s body responsible for the game, also needs to have clearance.

The RTI stated the following:

“Dear Sir/ Mam, In the month of September 2020, the Government of India with the consultation of your Department (MeitY) banned various Chinese apps. One of which was the Pubg Mobile Game. Now, there is much news that says that the game is being relaunched and the same is made specifically for the Indian Public and will not be harmful to the nation and its citizens. I would like to know if your department has given any such permission to the game so that it can be re-launched.”

This brings to rest the rumors about the coming of PUBG Mobile India and the excitement created by Diwali’s relaunch. It’s indeed misleading news for the millions of fans who are looking forward to playing their favorite game again.

There is no hint, however, of how long MeitY will take before the newly developed or curated PUBG Mobile India application can be released.
