1. Institute of bioinformatics and applied biotechnology (IBAB)
IBAB is an independent nonprofit institute established by the Karnataka Government, the IT, the BT and S&T departments. It is located on a campus of 20 hectares in the South of the City of Bengaluru.
With the financial support of ICICI Bank, the Government of Karnataka Department of Informatics and Biotechnology created the Institute in 2001.
Professor Manju Bansal, IBAB’s first director, is a professor at the Bengaluru Indian Institute of Science. For the first three years, she was with the Institute. Prof. N. Yathindra from the University of Madras succeeded her in 2004.
In June 2009, IBAB moved to its own campus in Biotech Park, Electronic City in Bengaluru, located at the International Tech Park. The academic block of the new campus has a capacity of 30.000 sq ft in its first phase.
